Reporting to the Senior Vice President – Leadership Transitions, the Vice President Executive Search (VP-ES) will have a diverse executive search client portfolio and will lead, or be a member of, various ACG project teams to assess client needs, develop effective recruitment strategies, and deliver successful client outcomes. The VP-ES will be a flexible full-time employee, traveling periodically and working across all ACG practice areas, as needed, to exceed client expectations in quality of personalized service. Additionally, the VP-ES will play a key role in the international growth of ACG by cultivating new executive search clients, building effective relationships, networking, serving on conference panels, and creating public visibility for the firm as a leader in executive search within the arts and culture industry and related fields.

Roles and Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Support

  • Lead executive search client projects and support interim management consulting services.
  • Cultivate relationships with, recruit, interview, research, and present candidates for leadership transition roles.
  • Meet mutually agreed upon goals and objectives on time, on budget, and on scope for all client projects.
  • Implement and assist in the refinement of firm methodologies, policies, procedures, and project reporting guidelines.
  • Focus on the effective and efficient use of time and resources in meeting project goals and associated client and firm deliverables.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with placed candidates and follow the careers of prospective candidates.
  • Mentor placed candidates and clients during the first year of their relationships.
  • Participate in project teams across other practice areas, as needed.
  • Embrace other project leadership and support roles and responsibilities, as needed.


Client Cultivation and Business Development

  • Build the brand, visibility, and presence of ACG’s executive search practice locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Proactively seek ACG executive search and other consulting projects.
  • Maintain a keen awareness of leadership transitions in the arts and culture sector.
  • Participate in industry conference panels, attend significant cultural events, and otherwise demonstrate firm and consultant expertise.
  • Report client successes and testimonials that can effectively demonstrate ACG’s positive impacts.
  • Write articles, blogs, and other materials that focus on the firm’s executive search competencies and industry needs in candidate identification, cultivation, recruitment, and long-term relationship building.
  • Embrace other client cultivation and business development roles and responsibilities, as needed.


Team Participation and Firm Capacity Building

  • Create synergy within a geographically dispersed workforce through regular conference calls, meetings, and team summits.
  • Maintain clear operational and brand distinction for ACG by developing and ensuring adherence to firm policies and style guidelines.
  • Demonstrate advanced internet, e-mail, and overall computer proficiency for efficient electronic communication, candidate research, and written and verbal presentations.
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of ACG.
  • Adhere to the policies, procedures, and guidelines established by the firm.
  • Participate in ongoing education programs, training, meetings, and other aspects of maintaining the highest level of knowledge within the industry.
  • Engage in an adaptive strategy process and recommend performance measures that focus on achieving the mutually established vision, mission, goals, and objectives of the firm.
  • Embrace other team participation and firm capacity building roles and responsibilities, as needed.

The successful VP-ES will be an entrepreneurial self-starter with a commitment and connection to the arts and culture field and the capacity to achieve demonstrable accomplishments in the executive search field. An effective ACG Vice President simultaneously learns from the past, lives in the present, and looks to the future as a global thinker with pragmatic methodologies that deliver superior results. This person will enjoy seeking out new project opportunities and will exhibit initiative while prioritizing tasks and achieving desired outcomes. The VP-ES must be able to move from analysis to dialogue and then onwards to the decision making embedded in the hands-on implementation needed by ACG clients. This individual will embody the highest ethical standards in the mentorship and support of ACG’s clients, candidates, and all those who advance the arts and culture industry.

The VP-ES will understand the synergy created by an international firm serving the entire arts and culture industry far outweighs what can be achieved as an individual consultant or loose affiliation of consultants in a single cultural discipline, functional area of expertise, or geographic region. This person will value knowledge and intellectual growth while having a clear focus on the importance of the effective return on investment of time, financial, technological, and human resources in achieving both client and firm goals. An objective listener with superior verbal and written presentation skills, the VP-ES will be a flexible team player with a passion for the discovery of knowledge that empowers clients to embrace and expedite change.

A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven years of experience in senior human resource roles with expertise in general employment laws, organizational behavior, recruitment, or related executive search areas are required. Additional certifications, educational accomplishments, and bilingual fluency (English/Spanish preferred) is appreciated. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, excellent detail orientation, and superior organizational capabilities are required. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and a depth of internet research capabilities are essential in the executive search practice.
