Overture Center for the Arts Announces Sandra Gajic As President and CEO

Overture Center for the Arts (Overture) has selected Sandra Gajic as President and CEO, following an executive search process led by Arts Consulting Group (ACG). She began her tenure on August 13, 2018 and succeeds past President and CEO Ted DeDee who retired in May 2018.

With nearly 40 years of management experience in the private and public sectors, Ms. Gajic most recently served as Director of Vancouver Civic Theaters. In this role, she was responsible for the development and successful implementation of a new business model for four theaters owned and operated by the City of Vancouver. She also established stronger partnerships with resident companies, doubled revenues, and contained expenses. For 16 years she served as Operations Manager at Canadian Opera Company in Toronto. She has held additional roles as Executive Director of Shumka Dancers in Edmonton, Chief Executive Officer of Edmonton Opera, and General Manager and Interim CEO at Arts Commons in Calgary.

In making the announcement, Overture Center Foundation Board Chair Betty Harris Custer said, “It is such an exciting time at Overture. We feel that Sandra fills many of the traits we found to be critical—decisive leadership, collaborative style with senior leaders, skilled in diversity and inclusion, experienced in attracting millennials in a similar albeit larger market, and experience with Resident Companies.”

“I’ve spent the past 27 years in arts and culture, most of it involving management in the performing arts,” said Ms. Gajic. “I look forward to engaging and becoming an integral part of the Madison community while bringing management cohesion to the relationship among the resident organizations and revitalizing the arts programming.”

“ACG would like to thank the search committee, board, staff, and resident companies at Overture for their tremendous participation in the search for its next President and CEO,” said ACG President Bruce D. Thibodeau. “We are confident that Ms. Gajic’s ability to lead dynamic performing arts organizations and facilities will empower Overture Center’s many strategic partners to continue providing exemplary programming to the Madison community and beyond.”
