Ms. Massa most recently served as Director of Advancement for the Concord Hill School in Chevy Chase, Maryland, where she oversaw the budget, led the annual fundraising campaign, directed all school events, and assisted in the design and creation of all school communications and publications. She also led the Advancement Board Committee and coordinated the annual auction, procuring more than 300 items. Prior to her tenure with the Concord Hill School, Ms. Massa held the Director of Leadership Giving position at Beauvoir, the National Cathedral Elementary School in Washington, DC. In this role, she implemented strategies for fundraising and donor cultivation, directed Board Advancement and Annual Giving Committees’ solicitation of major gifts, and developed plans to expand stewardship within the community. From 2009 to 2013, she worked with the Washington Ballet, first as Manager of Individual Giving and Board Liaison and later as Acting Director of Development. In these roles, she devised and implemented all fundraising initiatives, managed an individual giving budget of more than $900,000, and collected $3 million in annual contributed funds.

In a display of her leadership skills and passion for the community, Ms. Massa founded and co-directed a nonprofit community summer musical theater company for children. She was also Treasurer on the board of trustees for the All Saints Preschool in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Ms. Massa holds a bachelor of science degree in economics and geography from the London School of Economics.

In making the announcement, Board Chair Lisa-Marie Wright said, “The board of directors looks forward to working with Blaire to bring world class ballet to more people in central Iowa and beyond. Blaire’s experience as a classically trained ballet dancer and teacher combined with her successful career in arts and nonprofit administration make her the perfect fit to lead Ballet Des Moines as we work to further integrate professional ballet into the fabric of our vibrant arts community.”

“I am delighted to work in a company with such energy and potential as Ballet Des Moines,” said Ms. Massa. “I look forward to partnering with the board and artistic leadership, talking with the community, and sharing my passion and experience to help lead the company to a strong future.”

“Congratulations to Ballet Des Moines and Blaire Massa,” said ACG Vice President Jenna Deja. “ACG was thrilled to work with the search team to place a candidate with the passion, fundraising experience, and natural leadership skills that Blaire possesses. We wish Ballet Des Moines and Ms. Massa all the best in this time of creative growth, philanthropic expansion, and community collaboration.”
