The North Carolina Museum of Art Appoints Erin E. Cleghorn as Director of Development

The North Carolina Museum of Art has selected Erin E. Cleghorn as Director of Development, following an executive search process led by Arts Consulting Group (ACG). She began her tenure on October 24, 2022.

Cleghorn brings to the North Carolina Museum of Art over 20 years of experience in consensus building, annual giving, development, and membership acquisition. Prior to joining the museum, she served as Director of Annual Giving at the Meredith Fund, the Annual Giving program at Meredith College. During her 10-year tenure, Cleghorn oversaw all fundraising strategies and directed giving efforts using a variety of channels such as direct mail, email, crowdfunding, peer-to-peer via class gift agents, and a student-lead calling program. Due to Cleghorn’s effective guidance, the Fund has generated $2.5 million annually to support the needs of the college.

Previously, Cleghorn held the role of Director of Membership & Marketing at the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA), whose 17,000 members represent 70 percent of attorneys in North Carolina. While there, she managed recruitment and retention initiatives and was responsible for raising more than $3 million in revenues from memberships and corporate sponsorships. A versatile professional, Cleghorn managed marketing and affinity programs and served as staff liaison to constituency committees. Cleghorn has also fulfilled senior roles at North Carolina State University Alumni Association as Associate Executive Director, Florida State University Alumni Association as Director of Marketing & Membership, and WFSU Public Media as Membership Director / Producer.

Cleghorn earned a bachelor of science degree in media communications from Florida State University as well as a master of business administration degree from Meredith College. She also holds an education specialist degree from Appalachian State University.
