Baltimore Museum of Art Appoints Angela Wheeler as Chief of External Affairs

Baltimore Museum of Art has named Angela Wheeler as Chief of External Affairs, and Arts Consulting Group (ACG) extends its congratulations on her leadership appointment. She will begin her tenure on July 1, 2024.

Founded in 1914, the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) inspires people of all ages and backgrounds through exhibitions, programs, and collections that tell an expansive story of art—challenging long-held narratives and embracing new voices. Our outstanding collection of more than 97,000 objects spans many eras and cultures and includes the world’s largest public holding of works by Henri Matisse; one of the nation’s finest collections of prints, drawings, and photographs; and a rapidly growing number of works by contemporary artists of diverse backgrounds.

Angela Wheeler joins the Baltimore Museum of Art following her tenure as Associate Vice President of Campaign Operations at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, Maryland. While at MICA, she significantly enhanced donor participation, securing essential new funding sources.

Angela has more than 20 years of experience in comprehensive and capital campaign fundraising, strategic communications, and arts administration with a special focus on partnering with executive women in the arts. Over the course of her career, she has developed a wide range of campaigns with significant outcomes in annual giving and capital fundraising. She has also actively worked as the principal consultant for her firm, A. Wheeler Consulting, helping to empower clients to achieve their goals through thoughtful and strategic communications and fundraising campaigns. Wheeler has additionally served as Director of Development for the Baltimore office of the American Heart Association, Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, NorthBay Environmental Education Center, and AIDS Interfaith Residential Services. She also worked as Senior Development Officer for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. She holds an MBA from Aspen University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware.
