Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) has selected Patrick O’Herron as Vice President of Marketing and Communications, following an executive search process led by Arts Consulting Group (ACG). He began his tenure on July 4, 2022.
O’Herron will be joining the TSO’s Senior Management Group from the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra where he served as Vice President, Marketing & Communications since 2018. He maintains directorial experience under the areas of brand development, media relations, and digital operations with a strategic lens. Under his sales leadership, the organization achieved a record-breaking subscription revenue goal. Previously, O’Herron has served as a Marketing & Communications Director at Arts Brookfield, Brookfield Properties, and a Business Committee for the Arts Coordinator at Americans for the Arts. He has also held a programming role as a Public Programming & Events Manager at global real estate company CBRE, where he employed his expertise in marketing to aid his role as a producer of high-quality events.
O’Herron received a bachelor of music in vocal performance from James Madison University and a master of arts in arts management from the University of Buffalo.
In making the announcement, CEO Mark Williams said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Patrick to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. The skills, energy, creativity, and collaborative attitude he has employed throughout his impressive and varied career were a perfect fit for the needs of this institution. His knowledge of the patron experience and his love of Toronto will ensure that the work he accomplishes will be strategically aligned with the company’s mission-driven focus, especially as we move into our 2022/23 Centennial season.”
“Everyone talks about this indescribable energy of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra,” said O’Herron. “There is something special here. It’s not just the world-class talent one would expect; it’s electricity. This orchestra can pivot from the masters of the classical repertoire one night, to the best of Broadway, Hollywood, and the radio the next, and they play it all with precision and heart. I am beyond thrilled to be joining the TSO at this time, especially under the new leadership of Maestro Gustavo Gimeno and CEO Mark Williams, and the fresh perspective and artistic excellence they are both bringing to the organization. It’s a new TSO, and it’s one to experience.”
“ACG extends our congratulations to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and its staff and musicians as they welcome Patrick O’Herron as its new Vice President of Marketing and Communications,” said ACG Senior Vice President Menon Dwarka. “O’Herron is a visionary leader within the marketing field with an impeccable sense for storytelling that will elevate the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s visibility and ties with the diverse community that it serves.”
