"Art has played a vital role in my life since my childhood. Our mother inculcated an appreciation for arts and culture in my sister and me from an early age, and I have followed her example with my two children. Art is part of our cultural patrimony and a testament to our human experience; it encourages lifelong learning and rewards curiosity. Art precedes socio-political movements and serves as a historical record of our successes and failures."
"As an arts administrator, I believe it is our responsibility to ensure everyone feels welcome at our institutions by providing vocabulary and context, and that they see themselves and their stories reflected in the art we present."
Beyond her professional endeavors, Adrianzen Guyer is an avid community advocate. As a community leader, she serves on the Art Task Force of Central City Concern and the Development Committee of the Portland Art Museum. Previously she served as co-president, treasurer and board director at the Penney Family Fund; treasurer and board director at Grantmakers of Oregon and Southwest Washington; board director at Willamette Valley Development Officers; advisory director at World Affairs Council (Oregon); program committee member at Business for Culture and the Arts, and mentor at Portland Emerging Arts Leaders. Adrianzen Guyer is committed to advancing and supporting diversity and equity and is a member of Latinos Unidos 9th Cohort at Portland’s Latino Network.
