The Virginia Repertory Theatre Appoints Klaus Peter Schuller as Managing Director

The Virginia Repertory Theatre has selected Klaus Peter Schuller as Managing Director, and Arts Consulting Group (ACG) extends its congratulations on his leadership appointment. He began his tenure on August 1, 2024.

Virginia Repertory Theatre is a regional professional theater headquartered in downtown Richmond, and is one of the largest performing arts organizations in Central Virginia. Virginia Rep stages three primary seasons: the Signature Season at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre downtown at 114 West Broad St., the Barksdale Season at Hanover Tavern at Hanover Courthouse Rd., and the Family Season at the Jessie Bogese Theatre in our new Virginia Rep Center for Arts and Education at 4204 Hermitage Rd.

A driven, collaborative leader for creative organizations and venues, Klaus Peter Schuller joins Virginia Repertory Theatre following his tenure as Executive Director and Producer at Randolph Entertainment, Chicago, Illinois. In this role, Klaus led the building and development of a spectacular new facility in a “forgotten” historic theater in the Chicago Loop. In 2023, he led the merger with another organization to strengthen the balance sheet and create efficiencies to prepare the organization for a strong 2023-24 season.

Previously, Klaus was the Executive Director and Producer at The Second City in Toronto, Canada, where he supervised the planning and construction of their Mercer Street home, and was responsible for creative, venue, and fiscal management of a diverse enterprise including theater, professional consulting, television production, actors conservatory, and touring. He also served as the Supervising Producer (and other roles) for The Second City in Chicago, Illinois, and produced hundreds of corporate events, from annual meetings to large-scale celebrity galas. Klaus also acted as the General manager for Theatre on the Lake, Chicago Civic Theater owned and funded by the Chicago Park District, and was responsible for the historic venue, general administration, and presenting twelve plays and musicals each summer season. Klaus holds a bachelor's degree in Communications and English Literature from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, alongside Post Graduate Studies in Film & Television from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
