AltaMed Appoints Isabel Alexander Servantez III as Curator

AltaMed has selected Isabel Alexander Servantez III as Curator, and Arts Consulting Group (ACG) extends its congratulations on his leadership appointment. He began his tenure on August 19, 2024.

Based in Los Angeles, California, the AltaMed Health Services’ (AltaMed) mission is to eliminate disparities in health care access and outcomes by providing superior quality health and human services through an integrated worldclass delivery system for multiethnic and underserved communities in Southern California. AltaMed operates over 60 primary care and dental clinics in Orange and Los Angeles Counties.

Isabel Alexander Servantez III joins AltaMed following his tenure as Curator of Exhibitions and Director of Programs at Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, Texas. While being the curator there, Isabel collaborated with his colleagues to create a wide variety of exhibitions and programs. These exhibitions had a vast range of artists and subjects. One exhibition focusing on the historic creative traditions of Mexico was Expresiones de México, Arte de la Gente / Art of the People, co-curated with Sylvia Orozco, the museum’s founder, and director.

Following graduate school Isabel was chosen for the prestigious year-long Semmes Foundation Internship in Museum Studies at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio. During that internship, Isabel contributed to the organization of several exhibitions, most notably, co-curating the exhibition The Art of SA Eats / Sabor a San Antonio with Edward Hayes, who is currently the director of the El Paso Museum of Art. That exhibition would go on to receive local, regional, and national exposure. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), and a Master of Arts degree in Modern and Contemporary Art History at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC).
