Museo de Arte de Ponce Appoints Deborah Roldán as Director

Museo de Arte de Ponce has selected Deborah Roldán as Director, and Arts Consulting Group (ACG) extends its congratulations on her leadership appointment. She will begin her tenure on September 23, 2024.

Through access to art-based experiences, the Museo de Arte de Ponce seeks to promote discovery, stimulate curiosity, and foster dialogue to improve the lives of its community. The Museum was founded by Luis A. Ferré (1904-2003), a Puerto Rican philanthropist, industrialist, and governor of Puerto Rico, who began purchasing works of art for the Museum by establishing the Luis A. Ferré Foundation in 1957.

A Museum professional and art historian, Deborah Roldán joins the Museo de Arte de Ponce following her tenure as Chief Exhibitions Officer & Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas. In this role, Deborah established MFAH’s Exhibitions Department, which was $8M over budget; created a new managerial structure and was on budget within one year.

Previously, Deborah was on the Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Board in the city of Houston, Texas, where she advised on art outreach to the public and schools. Deborah also served as the Exhibition Coordinator and Curator for the Fundación Juan March in Madrid, Spain. In this role, she organized major exhibitions with international museums and artists in Europe and the US for the oldest and most preeminent arts foundation in Spain. Deborah was also an Arts Consultant for both the Museo Picasso Málaga and the Museo Nacional del Prado. Deborah holds a bachelor's degree in Arts Administration from Baruch College, City University of New York. She also holds a master's degree in Art History from Hunter College, City University of New York. Deborah is also a Ph.D. candidate in Art History at New York University.
