BOSTON — Arts Consulting Group (ACG), the leading provider of hands-on management consulting services to the arts and culture industry, today announced that Adam Davis has joined the firm as Vice President to expand the Planning & Capacity Building area. Based in St. Louis, Davis brings 20 years of experience in the nonprofit and performing arts sector to the firm. His areas of expertise include strategic planning and community engagement, board development, operational efficiency, fundraising and capital campaigns, arts facilities and program planning, and financial forecasting.

Davis most recently served as Managing Director of Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Massachusetts, where he managed 30 full-time and 150 seasonal staff members, oversaw the annual budget, and maximized fundraising results. He also managed facility capitalization and strategized with the board to raise a cash reserve. During his tenure, Davis led the organization through a strategic planning process that resulted in the initial phase of a redevelopment plan for the 33-acre campus, as well as implementation of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility training for staff and board members.

For more than a decade, Davis served as Managing Director for the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. In this role, he directed programming and operations for more than 230 events annually, including producing all activities for the John Anson Ford Theatre. Supervising a $72.2 million theater renovation, he strategized with key stakeholders within the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to raise $65 million in capital funds for this state-of-the-art renovation. Davis has also held roles as Theater Operations Manager at Pepperdine University’s Center for the Arts, where he managed the operations of three theater facilities and the logistics for 150 events annually, and Company Manager at La Jolla Playhouse, where he supported accomplished theater artists, oversaw contract negotiations, and managed the departmental budget.

In making the announcement, ACG Senior Vice President Douglas R. Clayton said, “We are honored to add Adam Davis to the ACG team and to lend his expertise to Planning & Capacity Building as well as other areas of the firm. A resourceful and capable leader, Davis is adept at strategizing and implementing complex initiatives to overcome obstacles, accomplish programmatic goals, and foster organizational success. We are also excited to expand to the St. Louis region and strengthen our support for arts and culture organizations in the Midwest.”

“I have had the incredible opportunity to work with and serve different communities through the arts organizations I have been a part of,” said Davis. “I have witnessed the arts as a catalyst for change, an opportunity to connect with each other, and an avenue for creative problem solving. I look forward to serving ACG clients in ways that support their efforts to have a positive impact in society.”

Davis was a member of the Southern California Leadership Network and a board member of California Presenters. He received an Emmy Award for producing the 54th Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration. Davis holds a bachelor of arts in theatre from Principia College.
