Filoli Historic House and Garden Appoints Darcy Hill as Chief Development Officer

Filoli Historic House and Garden (Filoli) has named Darcy Hill as the new Chief Development Officer, and Arts Consulting Group (ACG) extends its congratulations on her leadership appointment. She began her tenure on July 14, 2025.

Just 30 miles south of San Francisco, Filoli is a historic home and vibrant landscape situated on the ancestral lands of the Ramaytush Ohlone people in Woodside, California. Encompassing 654 acres along the slopes of California’s coastal range, Filoli was built in 1917 as a private residence and was opened to the public in 1975. Its centerpiece is a 54,000+ square-foot Georgian revival style mansion that was designed by the architect Willis Polk and is considered one of the nation’s finest remaining 20th Century country estates. The historic home is situated on 16 acres of formal gardens, over six acres of orchards, and hundreds of acres of natural land with six distinct ecosystems and nature trails. Filoli is on the National Register of Historic Places and a designated California State Historic Landmark. Filoli is also a part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

For the past decade, Darcy Hill has brought together communities across the Western US to invest and fund initiatives in the arts, environmental conservation, academic research all in support of making the world a much better place.

Starting her career in capital campaign management over 13 years ago, Darcy successfully completed with the board, leadership and volunteers at Desert Botanical Garden a $19 million effort to expand the entrance, create a butterfly and family garden and new horticulture facilities to care for the world class plant collection and the dedicated staff who bring it to life.  The generous members also raised substantial funds to create visionary exhibitions bringing high caliber artists like Dale Chihuly, Bruce Munro and Jun Kaneko.

There she developed a love for community building, public gardens and the innovative conservation methods being done behind the scenes.  These experiences and networks led her to lead successful fundraising teams at Grand Canyon Conservancy, The Sonoran Institute and Southwest Wildlife Conservation Society to make significant changes in national park trail restoration, water crisis solutions and working with communities on conservation needs across California, Arizona, and Northern Mexico.

"I’m honored to join the excellent leadership and staff at Filoli to further their mission of celebrating and preserving the beauty of nature and creating a world class experience at the historic House and Gardens for all visitors," Darcy said. "Moving from the desert, I’m particularly excited to be introduced to all the generous friends of Filoli and the incredible sites and culture on the peninsula."
