Rockport Music has named Suzanne Wilson as President and Chief Executive Officer, and Arts Consulting Group (ACG) extends its congratulations on her leadership appointment. She will begin her tenure on July 1, 2024.
Founded in 1981 as the Rockport Chamber Music Festival, Rockport Music presents exceptional concerts and cultural events in the “stunning acoustics and dramatic setting” (Boston Globe) of the Shalin Liu Performance Center. Best known for its summer chamber music festival featuring some of the world’s finest ensembles and soloists, Rockport Music has expanded its offerings to include year-round presentations of jazz, folk, pop, and world music, high-definition broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera and National Theatre (London), and special film presentations. Education and community outreach activities serve thousands of students and adults throughout Cape Ann and the North Shore annually.
Suzanne Wilson joins Rockport Music following her tenure as President and CEO of The Phoenix Symphony, in Phoenix, Arizona. In this role, Suzanne led the strategic turnaround of a TIER 2 Orchestra during a global pandemic and financial crisis to restore the $12M annual operating budget and return to Symphony Hall with full concert seasons. She also propelled the organization by stabilizing finances, cultivating partnerships, expanding the fundraising capacity and increasing audience engagement, smartly stewarding resources, and enriching the concert offerings and community programs.
Wilson has deep roots in the Boston area where she has served as the Chief of Staff of New England Conservatory (NEC). Prior to that position, Wilson worked as the Director of the Office of External Affairs & Partnerships for the Massachusets Department of Conservation and Recreation headquartered in Boston. She also served as the Vice President of Education & Community Engagement for the Celebrity Series of Boston for 12 years. Wilson is a graduate of Kenyon College with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. In addition, she is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Program, Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management.
