Flora Stamatiades (she/her/hers) is an established expert in consensus building and negotiations of complex professional agreements with a distinguished career of more than 30 years. A strategic thinker and an innovative problem solver, she has been a trusted liaison between management and employees for a wide range of prominent arts and culture organizations. Her proven ability to mediate partnerships, find common ground, and lead institutions through adaptive change has consistently catalyzed positive organizational transformations.
Stamatiades comes to ACG upon completion of her service as Leadership Team and Director, National Field Organizing, with Broadway for Biden. While in this role, Stamatiades oversaw the Field Team activities, including building alliances, streaming shows, fundraising, and facilitating issue-based panel discussions for the purpose of organizing entertainment professionals in support of the Biden-Harris campaign.
“My past work as an organizer has led to my commitment to bringing people together. Collaboration is key to the success of artistic organizations and choosing the right leadership to unify a team is the first step. I believe in approaching issues as “climbing the mountain”; first we identify our common goal – the “summit”, and our similar and different priorities as we climb. There may be 10,000 paths up the mountain, but we will reach the summit sooner if we plan together and agree on a path. This way of approaching new projects brings people together and makes use of their creative energies.”
“I have devoted my career to improving the circumstances of those who work in the arts, and I have come to understand that excellent leadership is essential to that work. The chance to be part of finding and supporting that leadership as the arts continue the process of change driven by current events is very exciting, and there is no better place to do so than with ACG.”
Previously, Stamatiades served Actors’ Equity Association as National Director, Organizing and Special Projects. During her 16-year tenure, she developed contracts focused on equity and inclusion, led strategic negotiations, and facilitated cooperation and communication between multiple parties. A sought-after specialist, Stamatiades has also fulfilled roles as a consultant in labor relations with various producers, including Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Stamatiades has been a guest lecturer in several renowned academic institutions, including, but not limited to, Columbia University, Carnegie Mellon University, and Yale University.
