Geoff Chang (he/him/his) brings a rich background of experience within the arts and culture industries, specifically within the dance sector. He serves as ACG’s Executive Search Practice Leader and has guided various successful executive search and strategic planning initiatives for numerous clients throughout North America. Chang most recently served as General Manager at the Mark Morris Dance Group in Brooklyn, New York, where he produced performances at many of the world’s leading cultural venues and arts festivals. During his tenure, he implemented a process of licensing works to national and international ballet companies, increasing earned income and broadening audiences worldwide. Growing the company’s portfolio of individual donors and successfully obtaining grants from foundations and corporations, Chang secured significant contributed income as part of a $25 million fundraising campaign, raising money for capital, artistic, and legacy projects.

Chang previously served as Executive Director at Dušan Týnek Dance Theatre and as General Manager at the Joffrey Ballet Concert Group, both in New York City. In these roles, he oversaw operations, devised and executed fundraising and marketing strategies, and managed human and financial resources. Chang also worked at Rambert Dance Company in London. As part of a major capital campaign, he helped the company relocate to a purpose-built home on London’s Southbank, the city’s cultural district.

“The value of arts and culture lies not only in its intrinsic ability to entertain, but also in its capacity to benefit personal health and wellbeing, enrich education, and improve the economy.”

Prior to his career in arts management, Chang practiced as a commercial lawyer for the United Kingdom’s leading media and entertainment law firm, where he advised on a wide range of legal issues for clients, including theater producers, music record labels, and television broadcasters. Chang provides legal, strategic, and management guidance as a board member of several arts organizations. He was elected as a trustee of Dance/USA in July 2020 and is a member of the Finance Committee.

Chang has guest-lectured in arts management at Columbia University and taught in the Downtown Brooklyn Arts Management Fellowship Program. A classically trained pianist and singer, Chang speaks German, and reads Latin and Ancient Greek. Chang earned a bachelor of arts degree from Cambridge University, a law degree from the University of London, and a certificate in arts administration from New York University. Chang is currently working towards a master of business administration at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California.
