Capitol Center for the Arts has selected Salvatore Prizio as Executive Director, following an executive search process led by Arts Consulting Group (ACG). He will begin his tenure on November 29, 2021.
An experienced and passionate arts professional, Mr. Prizio has most recently worked as the Programming Manager and Event Producer for Proctors Theatre Collaborative in Schenectady, New York. While there, he oversaw the artistic programming of more than 560 events per year for multiple venues, administered contracts for all artists throughout the season, and worked with Schenectady government officials to build strategies for civic arts events throughout the city. Additionally, Mr. Prizio was part of a team that oversaw the $14 million renovation of Proctors’ 700-seat Universal Preservation Hall Venue. During his tenure, he also produced multiple events, including Eddies Music Awards, Capital Records Live, Capitol Region Comicon (Fandom Fest), and Jazz on Jay Concert Series.
In addition to his years of experience in arts programming, Mr. Prizio is a musician and former proprietor of Bread and Jam, a 150-seat music venue and coffee house. He has served as a grant reviewer for the New York State Council on the Arts, on the advisory committee for the SUNY Schenectady Department of Music, and as the Chairman of the Board for the Jazz on Jay Concert Series. Mr. Prizio holds a bachelor of science degree with a concentration in music industry from Northeastern University.
In making the announcement, Chair of the Capitol Center Board of Trustees Ron Reed said, “Sal brings a wealth of programmatic and administrative expertise with him and we are thrilled to have him join the Capitol Center for the Arts. Sal immediately saw the potential to help move the Capitol Center to a new level of community engagement and programming and to expand our reach beyond the physical walls of our venues. He is looking forward to being an active member of the Concord community and relocating here with his family.”
