Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art Names Sharmin Mahmud Price as Director of Advancement

Sharmin Mahmud Price Director of Advancement Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of ArtWadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art has selected Sharmin Mahmud Price as Director of Advancement, following an executive search process led by Arts Consulting Group (ACG). She began her tenure on September 1, 2022.

An accomplished development professional with over 20 years of experience in the arts and culture sector, Mahmud Price most recently served as Director of Individual Giving at the Studio Museum in Harlem, NY. At the Studio Museum Mahmud Price identified and implemented strategic practices to maximize individual fundraising results and support effective prospect management. She successfully directed major gifts and patron programs, cultivating a robust pipeline of high-net-worth donors, and delivering $2 million in general operating support, major gifts, and program services. Mahmud Price also managed events and donor travel programs, including a trip to the 2022 Venice Biennale. She launched a Legacy Society Planned Giving program that helped secure $4 million in bequests from new and current donors.

Previously, Mahmud Price held positions as Associate Director of Principal and Major Gifts at Consumer Reports, Associate Director of Major Gifts at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Senior Major Gifts Officer at the Metropolitan Opera, and Director of Special Events at the Abyssinian Development Corporation. She is a development committee member at St. George’s Society of New York, where she recently supported a successful 250th anniversary capital campaign. Mahmud Price holds a bachelor of arts degree from Clark University and a master of arts degree in arts administration from New York University.

In making the announcement, Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art CEO Jeffrey N. Brown said, “Sharmin brings extensive experience and expertise in her leadership role and will make a significant contribution to our work in the community, furthering connections and extending outreach.”
